The HG BASS is a high gain bass distortion pedal, using Mesa Boogie's Dual Rectifier distortion voicing. Unlike many other overdrive and distortion pedals, this one was NOT designed to be clean and it is NOT designed to be transparent (although it can get fairly close). Not for the faint of heart, it has a voice all of its own, with a full low end, but with accentuated mids to cut through the mix. It can be run with a low amount of distortion (almost clean), but the mid to high gain settings are where this pedal really shines. It doesn’t use diodes or opamps for its distortion, but rather 5 discreet Jfet transistors emulating a high gain tube amp being pushed into distortion. The controls consist of gain, presence, treble, mids, bass and volume. It is mounted in a polished and acid etched 1590B with all top jacks, silver aluminum knobs, all lumberg jacks and has a relayed true bypass. Due to the complexity of this build I am only going to be only making one for myself and one for sale. This pedal cannot be purchased anywhere else. The one pictured is the one that you will receive. It can run on a power supply from 9-18volts. This pedal was built from scratch. I designed, etched, drilled and tin plated the PCBs, hand soldered all of the components, and polished and acid etched the enclosure, making it 100% boutique.
