Sunn Coliseum Bass Amp
Well, being the vintage Sunn freak that I am, and after owning one of these back in the 70's, I recently found and purchased another one in mint condition. I guess that bought it out of 'nostalgia's sake', but in this case, I was very sorry that I did. What was I thinking? In my opinion, these solid state Sunn bass heads sound horrible. They have NO low end and are all  midrange, and rather harsh at that. I tried it through all of my bass cabs (I have a ton of them) and I couldn't get it to sound even decent thru any of them. While I love the look of it, it wasn't enough for me to keep it, so  I quickly got rid of it, being that this is one of those cases where the fond memories of the old days just didn't live up to the reality at all. Its 300 watts (feels like 100) of pure megaphone.

It's build quality is actually very  good, but as far as the sound that comes out of it-YUCK! The old Sunn 200S, 190B's and 2000S's are still some of my favorite bass amps of all time, but in my opinion, Sunn really missed the mark with their solid state Coliseum and Concert series of amps, and if you're looking to get some low end, I suggest that you look elsewhere, and avoid them.

I guess that they all can't be winners, so here's some pics of it anyway:
