Vintage 1965 " St. George" Bass Guitar

This is a vintage (circa 1965) electric bass in very good condition, that was made in Japan. When I first started playing bass 42 years ago, this is the exact same model that I learned to play bass on. Mine had a "St. George" badge on it but I later had come to find out that this same bass was also available with "other brand" names on it as well. This one has a "Stadium" logo. It took me 20 years to find a bass just like the one that I first got in 1966. It really brings back memories for me and I'm actually quite surprised at just how good these basses are. I have since found two of them and do not need to keep both so I am offering one for sale.

Description:

It has a solid mahogany body, a three piece bound mahogany 34" scale neck with a rosewood fingerboard and nickel/silver frets. Although it does have a chrome neck plate, the neck is a set neck as well. Everything on this bass is original (i.e lacquer finish, solid aluminum pickguard, chrome pickup, pots, knobs, thumbrest, strap buttons, tuners, bridge and bridge cover etc) ,and it has a straight neck (rare) with very low action. The pickup sounds great (very similar to my Fender Precisions ) and you will be surprised at just how good this bass plays and sounds. It weighs 8 lbs 11 oz and balances well on a guitar strap. The bass has flatwound strings on it just as it did when it was new. I would describe the overall condition as very good as it has no cracks or repairs having been done to it, however it does have the usual scratches, small dings and wear for  a 43 year old instrument. The frets show little or no wear (due to it having flat wound strings on it for its entire life). Scroll down for more pics below.
