The Way Huge Piercing Moose was one of Jeorge Tripp's earlier creations and it has never been reissued. Originals have been listed and sold for up to $1000.
The pedal has gone through more color changes that most Way Huge Pedals. Like the Pro Overdrive II, the first batch of Piercing Moose pedals from 1994 or 1995 feature a light blue swirl paint job. Only 20 or so of these iterations exist.
Later, another batch of 20 were done in a violet anodized aluminum chassis. However, because of the light susceptibility of anodized aluminum, it began looking far less violet and far more like the Purple Platypus, so the colors were changed to black and yellow.
The Piercing Moose is a super cool octave–shifter fuzz. Interestingly enough, the older, light blue pedal from the ‘90s and the newer one sound just a tad different from each other, which Jeorge guesses is because of the different components used.
My version follows the original schematic and comes in a polished and etched 125B with all top jacks and has a relayed true bypass.
It runs on a 9 volt power supply (center negative). All of my builds are built from scratch. I design, etch, drill and tin plate the PCBs, hand solder all of the components, and polish and acid etch the enclosures, making them 100% boutique.
I am only going to offer this USED ONE for sale since it uses the original and rare NOS button top 2N3565 transistors and I only have enough to build one more in stock.
