This is the 11th one of these that I've built to date, a clone of the Noble Bass Preamp, by Conspiracy to Commit Electronics (aka SushiBox). When Nathan at Sushibox was selling them pre-built (now sold out), his price was $600 + shipping. He used JJ 12AU7's in his version and that's what I used in this one This is an absolutely gorgeous sounding preamp for bass. Built with high quality components (black anodized aluminum knobs, Lumberg DC & 1/4" jacks, teflon coated wire, Unagi (Sushibox) transformer for the XLR direct out, WIMA capacitors). It requires a standard 9 volt center negative power supply and contains an internal circuit to run the tubes at high voltage drawing 507ma when fully warmed up, (DO NOT use a power supply higher than 9 volts!). 9 volt power supply not included but I run mine with a Truetone 1spot.
Input, output and DC power are on the top with a transformer XLR direct out with a ground lift switch on the left side. The blue trimpot inside on the lower left adjusts the level of the DI.
With Noble preamps selling for $2K these days, this preamp is an absolute bargain.
