The HG BASS is a very high gain bass distortion pedal, using Mesa Boogie's distortion voicing. Unlike many other overdrive and distortion pedals, this one was NOT designed to be clean and it is NOT designed to be transparent (although it can get pretty close). Not for the faint of heart, it has a voice all of its own, with a full low end, but with accentuated mids to cut through the mix. It can be run with a low amount of distortion (somewhat cleanish), but the mid to high gain settings are where this pedal really shines. It doesn’t use diodes or opamps for its distortion, but rather 5 discreet Jfet transistors emulating a high gain tube amp being pushed into distortion. The controls consist of gain, presence, treble, mids, bass and volume. It is mounted in a blackfaced 125B with all top jacks and has a relayed true bypass. Due to the Jfets that are used in this circuit no longer being available, I am only going to be only making one for myself and two for sale. This pedal cannot be purchased anywhere else and is one (actually 4) of a kind. The one pictured is the one that you will receive. It can run on a power supply from 9-18volts. This build was made from scratch. I designed, etched, drilled and tin plated the main PCB, hand soldered all of the components, and labeled the enclosure, making it 100% boutique.
