The 'Baximato' is an accurate reproduction of the mythical and elusive Human Gear Animato, but with a few tweaks for use with a bass, and with an added active Baxandall treble and bass tonestack, hence the name Baximato. I've offered Animato clones before, along with an added clean blend or an added tilt control, but, in my opinion, this is the nicest sounding and most versatile version that I've built to date. I used the same Toshiba NOS silicon transistors used in the original circuit as well as two rare and expensive NOS germaniums for the Sziklai pair in the drive circuit. This is a brutal sounding bass fuzz when the distortion knob is cranked up. In my opinion, it is the BEST sounding Fuzz tone for bass that I've EVER built, with its fuzz having super harmonically rich and complex overtones with TONS of sustain. With the drive dimed, it's very difficult to describe. It's kind of both loose and tight at the same time.
This LAST ONE is my personal one and comes in a polished & etched Hammond 1590B2 (which is just slightly taller than a 1590B), with all top jacks and a soft touch RELAYED true bypass and anodized black aluminum knobs. This one has ALL high grade coupling capacitors (see pic) and uses the original silicon SC2240 transistors. My pedals are completely hand-made, including fabricating (etching and tin plating) my own PCBs, and I make them in very limited quantities. I prep & polish the enclosures, acid etch them, mount & hand solder all of the components and wire and test them before they ship, making them a truly hand-made boutique pedal. Nothing is farmed out.
DUE TO A LIMITED SUPPLY OF THE SPECIFIC NOS GERMANIUM TRANSISTORS IN STOCK (required for this circuit), THIS IS AN EXTREMELY LIMITED EDITION. This is the LAST ONE (my personal one) AVAILABLE FOR ORDER!
