'66 Jazz Bass Replica
(custom made with Fender and Fender Licensed Parts)
Here's a beautiful custom made Jazz bass that I built to 1966 specifications. All of my basses are built to order, so it’s extremely rare that I have time to build one and list it for sale, but I built this one with my own personal preferences and the way that I feel a vintage jazz bass should be. To give you a little info of my background, I have been building electric guitars and basses (as well as restoring them) since 1973. I’ve been playing bass since 1967 and worked as a consultant to Leo Fender when he started G&L with George Fullerton. I also designed the BC Rich Mockingbird, way back in December of 1975.

Description:

This bass has a two piece (centerline) lightweight swamp ash body and is painted with 100% nitrocellulose lacquer in “Mary Kaye’ transparent blonde. The neck is a Fender licensed neck by Allparts, but I have completely reshaped it to a 60’s profile and added rollover to the fingerboard edges for comfort. The original 2mm side dots were re-drilled and replaced with 3/32” ones, and then I shot the neck with a slight amber tinted high gloss nitro lacquer. My  'Kallas' logo decal is applied on top of the finish on the headstock in the same manner as the '60's basses. This bass has an absolutely perfectly straight neck, with low action and in my opinion, plays, sounds and feels like a vintage jazz bass should (I own several originals).  It includes a brand new padded Fender deluxe bass gig bag.

If you’re looking to buy a Jazz Bass that captures the tone, look and feel of a ’66, then this is the bass for you, at a fraction of the cost of an original one. All of my clients have stated that my basses far surpass anything made in the Fender Custom Shop and play better than their vintage counterparts.
